We approach the practice of medicine
pro-actively and with respect. We provide our patients
with a comprehensive evaluation using the latest
evidence based methods for the diagnosis, reversal
and prevention of disease. Throughout the process,
it is our goal to educate our patients enabling
them to be active decision makers and responsible
parties to improving their status of health.
The Status of Healthcare in
the US
The New England Journal of Medicine published
an article in its June 26, 2003 issue. The article
was a summary of one of the largest and most comprehensive
examinations of health care quality ever conducted
in the United States. Based on their works the researchers
presented the revolutionary conclusion that the
current “Standard of Care” is putting
the Health of the American public in serious jeopardy!
“The deficits we have
identified in adherence to recommended processes for basic
care pose serious threats to the health of the American
public. Strategies to reduce these deficits in care are
warranted.”
RAND Health conducted
the study with funding from The Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation.
Our Difference
for Your Benefit
Our practice is different from most medical practices for several
reasons.
Proactive vs. Reactive
The healthcare experts in our
country and around the world are constantly presenting
research with the main message that “doctors
need to do more to prevent our nation’s major
ailments”. We agree! Instead of waiting for
signs of:
We begin the evaluation process as soon as you become
a patient. We believe that by practicing pro-active
medicine you, the patient, can practice prevention
for improved quality of life.
Multi-Specialty Means Complete Care
Secondly, we are a Multi-Specialty
Practice. What is a multi-specialty practice? Similar
to the doctors of the past we have the expertise
to treat you from head to toe. Whether it is internal,
dermatological, gynecological or cardiovascular
medicine, we provide the initial pro-active evaluation(s)
and treatments. We also refer our patients to our
colleague specialists when both the doctor and patient
deem it necessary.
Continuity of Care
Why is this important? A doctor
who treats you for most of your ailments has a far
better understanding of your complete health status
versus a doctor who just has a portion of the story.
A continuity of care approach improves the efficiency
and success of a patient's care in addition to strengthening
the patient-physician relationship.
A Strong Patient/ Physician Relationship
The experts that presented the
article mentioned above provided several suggestions
that we have been practicing and encouraging our
patients to follow for the past several years. They
are as follows:
• Patients must take responsibility
for their own care.
• Patients should seek information from trusted
sources to learn what kind of preventive care or
treatment they should be receiving
• Patients should work with their physicians
to ensure that they get the recommended care.
• Patients should not assume that their physicians
will remember all that needs to be done. They can
help their physicians provide good care by being
active advocates for it.
• Patients need to follow through to improve
their health status
